Settlement for internally displaced persons in Hvozdiv
The area earmarked for the design studio has been selected as a potential location for the development of the settlement in conditions of war. Situated 30 km from the city of Kyiv, between the villages of Gvozdiv, Roslavichi and the city of Vasilkiv, the 120-hectare site was earmarked for a residential community with a capacity of 1,350 inhabitants. The overarching objective of the studio was to develop urban concepts that demonstrate predictable and typological perspectives for the design and construction of similar settlements in the future.
It is essential to give full consideration to the opportunities for creating favourable conditions for people in crisis, and to ensure the provision of the full range of necessary services for a quality life. The project will explore the appropriate urban density and functional zoning for this location, ensuring compatibility and optimisation. The role of cultural and religious spaces is also a key consideration. Finally, we need to consider how social exchange, adaptation and innovation can be stimulated in the future village.
