Metropol.x_Kyiv

Since independence in 1991 Kyiv has been undergoing dynamic transformation processes, as witnessed in the dynamics of its urban development, i.e., the densification of the existing urban fabric and reconstruction of old buildings, which has partly lead to a loss of historical quality. Against the backdrop of current crises, this booklet provides significant insights into the ongoing situation in Kyiv. The topics of the atlas are manifold. However, they are closely related to Kyiv’s urban planning and architecture, and discussed within the broader context of a post-soviet city and its present sociocultural, political, economic, and environmental conditions, as well as its rich historical heritage.
