Seminar MetropolX Tbilissi

Tbilisi is with around 1,1 Million inhabitants the largest city and capital of Republic of Georgia, subjected to a variety of political and cultural influences. It was an important political, social, and cultural center of the USSR. Constant reminders of the country's Soviet past remained and populated the country's built environment. The todays attitude towards this Soviet architectural heritage is characterized by contradiction. The task of the seminar was to explore and reflect the urban DNA of Tbilisi in regard to its Soviet Heritage. Where and how is the past of the Soviet era visible in the contemporary urban landscape of Tbilisi, how it is percieved, discussed, appropriated and transformed?
