Lecture series ‘Urban Transformation in Eastern Europe’
In the frame of the lecture series will be discussed case studies from Eastern Europe, presenting various types of transformation, such as the conversion of former military or industrial territories, modification due to loss of working places and population, because of new functional requirements, change of political system or climate adaption, destruction because of war, natural disaster and others. The question of the adaptability of various strategies in different countries will be discussed. How do districts perform if they have to adapt to new requirements? How can buildings and open spaces be re-designed and re-used?
