On 4 November 2025, CNUTR hosted an insightful online lecture by Professor Tauri Tuvikene (Urban Studies, Tallinn University’s School of Humanities). The session brought together Ukrainian students (from OSACEA, TSUK, O.M. Beketov NUUEKh, and KAI) and German students (from KIT) for a dynamic exchange focused on the urban transformations of Tallinn, with particular emphasis on urban activism, the fare-free public transport system, and changes in the port area. Professor Tuvikene also explored the Soviet urban layer that continues to shape Tallinn’s structure and identity, using Lasnamäe as a key example to discuss resilience and urban inclusivity in post-socialist contexts. He further addressed perspectives for resilient development of large housing estates, connecting social and spatial dynamics with contemporary challenges in urban planning.
